Greek Myths
The Age Of Heroes
The Greek Hero
Greek Myths were tied to Greek religion. The Greek writer, Homer, wrote poems about the adventures of Greek Heroes and their epic battles with villains. One of these epic poems is the Odyssey. It is the story of the battle of Troy: Odysseus had an idea to trick the Trojans by giving them a wooden horse with him and his men hidden in it. The large wooden horse is brought into Troy and Odysseus and his men got out of the horse and let the soldiers waiting outside come in and
reclaim Helen.
Homer
Homer wrote poems titled the IIiad and
Odyssey. It wasn’t just any poems, they were
the epic poems that have been told for many years. Achilles and Odysseus play the heroes in these stories. The Iliad is the story of Achilles and his battles in the Trojan War.
Perseus and Medusa
Perseus, with the help of the gods, goes to get the head of medusa (an impossible task) and return it to the king. The gods provide him with divine tools. While the Gorgons slept, Perseus attacks and uses his shield to see her reflection and avoid her stare. He is successful and returns with her head to Athens (victorious).
Hercules
Hercules is known for his superhuman strength and his many adventures. In one of his adventures, Hercules is tasked with 12 impossible tasks.
Prometheus
Prometheus is another Greek Myth character. He is best known for defying the Olympian gods and steals fire from them and gives it to humanity in the form of technology, knowledge, and civilization. In some editions of the myth, he is also known for the creation of humanity from clay.
