Migration Out Of Africa
Populating The World
Migration out of Africa
This image shows the route that Homo sapiens took to migrate out of Africa to find food, water, and places to live
Early Homo sapiens were hunter-gatherers (foraged for food)
They hunted animals and ate wild berries and other edible plants
Severe Drought & The African Diaspora
Climate Change caused severe droughts
Homo sapiens were forced to migrate out of Africa for survival
They were following their food sources (animals and plants)
Megafauna
Early Homo sapiens hunted megafauna (large animals) for survival
Some of these megafauna were Wolly Mammoth, Giant Ground Sloth, and the Saber-Toothed Cat
Early Homo sapiens ate the animal's meat and used bones & teeth, furs, and ligaments for tools and weapons
Ice Age
Between 20,00 and 15,000 years ago, the last continents to be populated were the Americas
During the last Ice Age, animals and early humans migrated over a land bridge (Beringia) to the Americas (in search of food sources)
Low water levels exposed land under today's Bering Sea
Water levels were so low during the last Ice Age that humans and animals crossed what is today the Bering Sea
