Dear Brown School Family,
This Friday is the best day of the school year! Our SDL Showcase returns on Friday, March 20th. Every student will be presenting that day, and I would love to have a huge crowd of parents! Here is the schedule.
8:15-9:00 AM Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Graders
9:15-10:00 AM Middle School Students
10:15-11:00 AM High School Students
1:15-2:00 PM 3rd, 4th, and 5th Graders
Make sure you plan to arrive 10-15 minutes before the presentations start so that there is ample time for you to go through our weapons detection systems and get signed in. Don't forget to bring your ID. This will help the Welcome Center staff know how many family members to expect so you can get signed in and arrive promptly to your student's presentation.
Love,

If you are interested in mental health services for your student outside of the school setting, we are able to make referrals for you through Care Solace. If you are interested in my services with your student to start off the school year please reach out to me via the student support form and I will be happy to talk with you and find the best services for your student. I am hoping to do more groups this year, so if you have an idea that you think would benefit your child feel free to reach out!
Also the second annual Brown School Mental Health Fair was a big success. The kids had a lot of fun learning about local community supports, getting to meet some therapy dogs, and learning from the Science Center! I look forward to bigger and better things next year!

Juniors are taking the SAT today and we are so proud of their commitment to presenting the best testing versions of themselves that they can, but also want to reiterate that our students are more than test scores!
Brown School students are indepdent, innovative, empathetic, and advocates for social justice and the less fortunate. I speak to those characteristics in letters of recommendation regularly. We are all so proud of the young adults we help raise and no test score will make us feel otherwise!

THIS LIST is provided by the Governor's School for the Arts. Students interested in that program typically apply in the fall of their sophomore and junior year. Previously mentioned options:
Multiple Grades-UofL Speed OutReach rolling admit, many free options
Grades 9-12-UofL McConnell Young Leaders Academy
Multiple Grades-Bellarmine Camp Valor (opens March 4th), cost varies by program
Grades 7-10-WKU Vampy for Gifted/Talented, does cost money, but I think there is financial aid available.
Age 16+-Mayor's SummerWorks Program work 8-10 weeks for 30 hours a week at jobs that are not open postings. A variety of opportunities.
Grade 11-Summer Engineering Exploration Kamp (SEEK) at UK
LBA Summer Law Program (not yet updated for 2026), circle back in a few weeks.
