Dear Brown School Family,
A Shoutout to Our Incredible Plant Operations Team!
As we get ready to welcome students back for a new school year, I want to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the outstanding work of Angie Weathers, our amazing plant operator, and her incredible team.
Walking through our building right now is truly inspiring—the classrooms are spotless, the hallways gleam with freshly waxed floors, and every corner of our school feels ready to embrace a year of learning and growth. Angie and her team have worked tirelessly all summer to ensure that our school not only meets but exceeds the highest standards of cleanliness and care. Their attention to detail, pride in their work, and dedication to our students and staff make such a difference. A clean, welcoming environment sets the tone for the entire year, and thanks to them, we are starting off with our very best foot forward.
Their commitment to excellence, and the pride they take in making our school shine—literally and figuratively. We are so grateful for all they do!
Love,
Dr. Angela

Welcome to Middle School at the J. Graham Brown School! Our 6th Grade Orientation and Camp will be held on Weds, July 30th at 9 AM. This event is designed for both students and parents to ensure a smooth and enjoyable first day of middle school.
Starting at 9:00, parents and students will have orientation to learn about Brown Middle School protocols, including drop-off and pick-up, class information, dress guidelines, the new electronic device policy, and time for questions. Following this, parents can visit our registration booths. After orientation and registration, parents have the option to wait in our auditorium or return for student pick up at noon.
Starting at 10:00, students will participate in activities to familiarize them with the school community and to get to know their classmates. There will be a tour of classes, fun group activities, prize giveaways and Popsicles & Play @ Peace Park.
If attending 6th Grade Camp and Orientation, you do not need to participate in additional orientation or registration opportunities. You are invited back for the Meet & Greet on Tuesday, August 5th from 1:30 to 2:30 PM.
What's Next?
Check the school 6th Grade supply list.
Turn in required 6th Grade paperwork:
Scan the documents in PDF format and email them to our records clerk, Rita Myers.
Mail the documents to our school address: 546 S. First St. Louisville, KY 40202
Bring the documents to the Meet & Greet or orientation.
Complete health forms for any student that has a health condition (asthma, allergies, seizures, diabetes, etc). These forms can be found on the JCPS Health Services website.
Decide on your afternoon pick up plan. If you would like your middle schooler to join the car rider line or gym walk up with the elementary then you must request a car-rider tag in the main office or during orientation. However, please note that most middle schoolers decide to be picked up in the front of the school on 1st street which does not require a car rider tag.
Email Sherri Harris with any questions. I look forward to meeting you all soon!

The PBIS Rewards program is back this school year! This program was a great addition to our Positive Behavior Intervention and Support system but most importantly, our students LOVED it! Students earned points for demonstrating respect, responsibility, safety and the pursuit of excellence to spend in the school store, raffles, prize wheel or events. Last year, we decreased discipline referrals, improved engagement, student recogniton and sense of belonging. Your donations will help us keep the momentum going!
What types of items can I donate? The easiest option is to visit our Amazon Wishlist and have items delivered directly to the school. We are also a great option for re-gifting items such as bath & beauty kits, sports gear, toys, gift cards and more. Our biggest seller last year for all grades (even High School) were donated Beanie Babies. All items should be new or like-new and can be dropped off in the Welcome Center. This year, we will also have a donation box available during Registration.
How can I learn more information about PBIS Rewards? Check out THIS VIDEO for more info about PBIS Rewards.
If you have questions about donating or would like to volunteer to work at the PBIS Store or a PBIS Event, contact Sherri Harris.
CLICK HERE for our school supply lists for grades K-8. Students enrolled in high school classes will receive supply lists on course syllabi during the first two days of school.

We hope you are having a good summer. Below are the links to Final Forms to register for Fall Sports. All of our required athletic forms will be online on Final Forms this year. David is on summer break but will return on August 4, 2025.
We are looking forward to seeing the kids in a few weeks! The school is way to quiet without them. Just a few reminders - we have an onsite food pantry if anyone is in need. If you are in need of any school supplies to start the year, let me know. I would be happy to help!
There are several events throughout the city that will also provide free school supplies and have fun activities for the kids.
Christy is on summer break but will return on August 1, 2025.
Happy New Year! I hope you all have had a restful summer and are getting excited about starting the 25-26 school year. I am working on scheduling. I've received some reports that the parent portal of Infinite Campus is prompting users to schedule their child. Please disregard any scheduling messages like that from Infinite Campus. I input schedules for all middle school students into Infinite Campus. If any changes need to be made to electives, students have up until the first two weeks of school to request an elective change. The elective change request form will be made available in the next coming weeks. Thank you and feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Also, if your child did not complete the Elective Request form for their grade level, no worries! The form is no longer accepting responses, but you can email me if you have a specific elective request and we'll see what we can do. Thanks.
Welcome back HIGH SCHOOL!!! And a special welcome to all of our NEW to Brown students! If you have not already communicated your course choices to me, please email me from your JCPS email or have your supportive adult at home email me from the email on file in Infinite Campus. I have been emailing new students as I see them while scheduling, but I legally have to communicate through JCPS student email so if you are new to JCPS, ask your adults to check their email.
*****************************************
Scheduling is not quite finished, but will be made available around 7/31 when we have Registration sessions. I will print physical copies, but you will also be able to see them in IC. Students have 10 school days to request a change via The Schedule Change Request Form and I have 10 days after that to equalize course loads. PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL CHANGE REQUESTS. I will be in study halls the first two weeks to meet with students in person.
*****************************************
New Opportunities in Courses: We have added Civil Rights in America, Sci Fi Literature, and AP Psychology. If you would like one of those courses and have not already made a request, please complete the Schedule Change Request Form when it is available.
*****************************************
SENIORS: I know you are excited about college and all the things, please do not create college app accounts until after August 1. Norah and I will support you through the process. Stay tuned to Google Classroom: Class of 2026 and Google Classroom: College and Scholarships.
*****************************************
Work-Based Learning SENIORS (excluding UPS): Do not commit to working at your place of employment during the school day until after Labor Day. There is about two weeks of paperwork processing that has to be done before you can legally leave for work. Leaving school without Work-Based Learning in your active schedule will be viewed as cutting class (off-campus). Signing out will be considered an unexcused event and can lead to truancy problems later in the year. UPS students can leave the first day as scheduled.
*****************************************
Dual Credit Students: When schedules are available, double check that your Dual Credit Courses are listed on your schedule in the V/PN after school spot and you have a class called "Dual Credit Fall on Campus" even if you are a virtual student. That is imperative to KHEAA receiving your info to begin the process of awarding your scholarship. We will also send info about "setting your preferences" to determine which institution receives your KHEAA Dual Credit Tuition Only Scholarship. Please remember, any fees above the cost of tuition are your responsibility to pay to the college and are not covered by fee waiver.
Additionally, if "Dual Credit Fall on Campus" falls during your normal school day, you are to sign out and make your way to an off campus location. Remaining at school when you are not rostered in a class is prohibited and can be met with disciplinary consequences. You are paying for college resources such as the library and math or writing labs, you should use them!
