Parents of 5th, 8th and 12th graders can purchase an ad space and create a personalized ad for their favorite student for the yearbook.
All ads are due by Feb. 12th - Jostens turns this service on and off and we can not put ads in at the last minute.

Middle school students will be receiving their MAP family reports this week with reading and math winter assessment scores on one report. Ask your middle schooler for their reprot -- they received them in math classes.
High schools students have begun the CERT challenge! 9th - 11th grades are competing against each other to earn an end-of-year field trip. They complete graphic organizers as they walk through the questions and standards they missed on the CERT test last month. The CERT test mirrors the SAT and these activities are intended to prepare them for the SAT all Kentucky students now take in junior year.

Indoor Track will ONLY be 7th, 8th, and HS this year. We are running Indoor Track just like last year. We will not be charging a sports fee. There will be NO practices due to scheduling at Nortons, as many sports overlap, and coach availability with other Brown sports.
(Outdoor Track will have full practices and meets for BOTH middle and high school.)

Athletics Sports Physicals- We will be offering free sports physicals to for students planning on participating in spring sports at Brown on January 27th. All you need to do is fill out the interest form below and print and fill out the correct sports physical. After they are filled out, you have to drop them off to the school nurse in the Welcome Center by Monday, 1/26. We will call them out of class on Tuesday, 1/27 to do the physical.
Register NOW for Spring Sports- If you are planning on or interested in playing a spring sport this year, registration is now open on Final Forms. If you already have a Final Forms account, all you need to do is log in and select the sport. If you have not made one yet, please visit www.brownbearsathletics.com and select the Final Forms links and fill out all of the forms. When we add new sports for the winter or spring seasons we will notify students on email and announcements.
***Spring Sports offered include Indoor and Outdoor Track (grades 7-12 eligible), Middle AND High School Boys Volleyball, Middle School Boys and Girls Soccer, High School Baseball (grades 7-12 eligible), High School Softball (grades 7-12 eligible), and Tennis (grades 7-12 eligible)
NEW TEAM!!!- We will be offering Middle School Boys Volleyball for the first time this year. If you are interested, please sign up on Final Forms and Eventlink. The season will begin 2/15. For any questions, please see Dr. Kat and check here for announcements.
Eventlink- Eventlink is a new communications platform for coaches to send messages and keep a unified calendar of practices and games. To join our Eventlink for team announcements and calendars please open these INSTRUCTIONS. Please make sure you search for the "J. Graham Brown School." This is how you will receive messages from coaches and game updates.
Winter Sports Fees- If your student athlete is playing a winter sport, please pay your fee ASAP. Fees pay for equipment, uniforms, registrations, warm-ups, etc. They are critical for the success of our programs. If you would prefer to pay with cash or check, have your student-athlete bring the fee to the athletics office or welcome center.

The last day fo school before winter break we gave our Brown School Staff & Teachers hot chocolate and hot apple cider. We hope that everyone had a wonderful winter break and are glad to see everyone's smiling faces back at school.
The KY Genreal Assemby started yesterday in Frankfort. This is a budget year and fundingn for Ky Schools will be impacted by what is decided. Please consider signin a petition to tell lawmakers that you support reinvesting in KY Public Schools.
Have you joined the PTSA?
If not - please consider it. As the legislative session begins - we get asked how many members do we have in the county, district, or even at the school level. We lhave 129 members that is 171 members less than last year. PTSA Membership is $10.00 and you can join online.
If you are interested in mental health services for your student outside of the school setting, we are able to make referrals for you through Care Solace. If you are interested in my services with your student to start off the school year please reach out to me via the student support form and I will be happy to talk with you and find the best services for your student. I am hoping to do more groups this year, so if you have an idea that you think would benefit your child feel free to reach out!
Louisville residents who need assistance paying winter heating bills are invited to enroll in the state's Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The program is funded by Kentucky's Community Action Network. Open enrollment started Jan. 6, and applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis through March 27, 2026 or until funds are depleted.
The non-profit organization, Giving Loving Heartfelt Prom Dress Giveaway, is offering free prom dresses. They offer many styles and sizes from 0-5X. Every person is eligible to receive a prom dress. Mark your calendars for January 17th, 21st, 31st, and February 7th, as they will be hosting this giveaway on Saturdays from 11 AM to 5:30 PM.

Next Tuesday, January 13th, is the first meeting of the 8th grade dance parent planning committee. It will be from 3-4 in the main office conference room and it is for 8th grade parents and families that are willing and able to plan the 8th grade dance. The 8th grade dance will be on Friday, May 8th from 7-9 pm and it is entirely organized by parents. Please consider becoming a part of the planning committee to ensure that our budding high schoolers have a special and memorable end to their middle school time at Brown.
Welcome back!!! Schedule changes outside of dual credit are not typical in January.Students that requested a schedule change are being met with or emailed the change. Students have 10 working days to request a change which is 1/16. Robin has 10 days to respond.
