At the beginning of each term, all course shells will appear using the template below:
Go to your new empty live course shell and check the number of topics/weeks. Are they the same number as your master? You must have at least the same number of topics in your live shell as you do in the MASTER for the content to import correctly. You can add new ones if needed.
Turn on Editing in your empty live course, then click on import and follow the procedures to import content from your personal MASTER to this new live course shell.
After the import process is completed, look at your live course and verify that your content and activities have imported correctly. Be sure to add any desired due dates or date restrictions to the newly imported activities. Facilitators should then change their role to “Student View” to ensure exactly how the student view will appear.
Effective Summer, 2019 for each course, faculty are REQUIRED to upload the course syllabus in this location. (no later than 7 days in advance of the course start date).
Faculty uploading content using a Personal MASTER will find both syllabus and AIE templates for CGS or CUS in the Faculty Hub.
Faculty are required to submit their course syllabus and AIE in advance of the start of classes for department review and approval to Trish Dudkiewicz @ pdudkiewicz@immaculata.edu.
Faculty are encouraged edit the course name and information and to upload their Meet Your Instructor information and Course PowerPoint Slides in the live CRN.
Review your course to ensure that web links, media, learning objects (i.e., PowerPoint), and quizzes all function properly.
Ensure that any assignments students in your course should be able to see are actually visible and that those they should not see are hidden (i.e., if you are teaching a face to face class, you will likely “hide” the weekly discussion forums since those topics will be covered in class).
To verify display, category, mode, and grading scale preferences.
Verify that it has all the assignments properly linked to the correct content items.
Check all individual assignments including category, calculation type, and point settings.
If everything is as expected, enable your course to make it visible to your students using the Making Course Visible to Students instructions.
Faculty is encouraged to send a welcoming message to the class at the time the section is turned on in Moodle:
Your message should contain a brief introduction, contact information, and a course schedule or reminder to view the syllabus.
You may also provide a brief list of things to do before the first class, an overview of the first week or module, or other helpful guidance.
Sending a message through the course shell generates an email to each student registered for the course and lets them know they can now see the course in their list of courses on the LMS.
Faculty members are encouraged to review and familiarize themselves with the material in the Faculty Hub, in particular the Faculty FAQs located in the "Navigating Moodle" section, under “Help with Moodle”.
