Effective Spring 2019, all IU faculty (full-time and adjunct) except those approved exemptions noted below are required to complete the following “Faculty Training” courses before teaching their first course for the University:
101: Online Course Facilitation
102: Intro to Moodle
Physical Education (PED) instructors
Student-teacher supervisors
Dissertation chairs
Clinical instructors/preceptors; internship/practicum (field placement) supervisors (when no classroom time is required – those without seminars)
High School dual enrollment instructors
Faculty who have not yet completed their required training will receive Moodle Banner notifications for each Moodle sign-on prompting their completion of the required course(s). The pop up will be removed when the faculty completes both training courses and are awarded a badge for each.
These two courses are in the Faculty Hub (Moodle). Upon completing each training course, faculty will receive a badge, viewable on their faculty profile screen. Completion of these training courses is documented in each faculty member's official university record. If you are new to Immaculata and have not yet completed these training, please plan to complete the training as soon as possible. Each training experience should take less than an hour to complete and your requirement is satisfied when you have been awarded badges for both.
To access faculty training, sign into MyIU and click on the Moodle icon or alternately can login directly into Moodle at moodle.immaculata.edu.
Once in Moodle locate and click on “Faculty Hub” on the Moodle Home page or in your Current Courses tab as shown below.
While in the Hub, scroll down to Faculty Training 101: Online Course Facilitation. Open the folder and begin the training. Then do the same and complete Faculty Training 102: Intro to Moodle.
The lesson will focus on the basic functions of Online Course Facilitation. This is the first training in a series that are required of all IU faculty. Upon completion of the course, you will receive a Moodle badge.
This lesson will focus on the basic functions of Moodle including accessing your courses, communicating with your students uploading files, and importing content. This is the second training in a series that will be required of all IU faculty.
Upon successful completion of each training course, a badge will be updated to your individual profile on Moodle. Your requirement to take the training is not complete until your badges have been awarded. When you receive the message "Congratulations you have been awarded a badge". Please verify, the badges below appear on your personal profile page.
To locate your profile, click on the down arrow in the top right corner of your Moodle screen. From the dropdown menu, select Profile and under the Miscellaneous topic, locate and click Full Profile.
View your profile page on Moodle, you will see the course badges you have received to date. Once faculty has completed the training and been issued their badges, then the Attention: Training Requirement Banner notification will be removed within a few days.
Should you find your do not have the badges expected, follow steps 1-3 above. You may have missed a step, please scroll through each training until the final assessments are completed, a grade awarded for your work and the message "Congratulations you have been awarded a badge". appears. Please again verify, the badges below appear on your personal profile page.
