A faculty member reported that a few students’ grades from previous assignments were no longer visible – apparently “missing” – in the course’s Moodle gradebook. This glitch may be a result of the brief Moodle access issue we experienced on Monday, May 4.
Please note: any grades you entered are still available in your course, even if not visible. Here are two, possible solutions to resolve your issue.
Edit your Moodle Gradebook settings:
Click on the “Grades” option within your course.
On the screen that appears (“Grader Report”). Click on the gray “Turn editing on” button (this is a different editing option from the course-level editing button)
If you look at the grader report, you will now see a gear icon at the top of the column for each assignment. (See the two columns below with the gear icon circled in each.)
For any assignment in which there are grades not showing, click on the gear icon. On the page that appears, you don’t need to make any changes. Just click the “save changes” button to refresh the grading category.
These steps should fix the problem and allow you to see any grades you have recorded for your students.
Download grades to an Excel spreadsheet (this won’t “fix” the Moodle gradebook but should provide a quick means of seeing all grades if you are in a time crunch)
Click on the “Grades” option within your course.
Along the top of the “Grader Report” page that appears, select the “Export” option
On the page the appears, click on the “Excel Spreadsheet” option.
The next page that appears will list every course assignment with selection boxes pre-checked. To download complete gradebook, scroll to the bottom of the page and select “Download”
When the download is complete, your Excel spreadsheet document will appear in the bottom left of your screen; click on it to open the spreadsheet.
