What is Relay for Life at Blakelock?

Relay for Life is an annual event held in Blakelock’s back field. Relay for Life is an organization run by the Canadian Cancer Society that focuses on funding cancer research. Teams take turns walking the track to symbolize how cancer never sleeps and that no one should walk alone in their fight. 

The fundraiser this year at TAB is going to be held on Wednesday, June 3rd, 2026, and in case of bad weather, the backup day is Friday, June 5th, 2026. The event occurs from 12pm to 9pm on the day of. 

Blakelock’s donation goal for this year is $50,000, and using the link found in the bio of the @tabrelayforlife Instagram, you too can sign up for this year’s event! The fee to sign up is $20 and it goes towards: a shirt, food, decorations for your team, and the candle for the luminary ceremony. 

Teams consist of 5-15 members, but there is no strict maximum or minimum to sign up. Many also choose to have a team theme to make the event even more fun and inclusive! The event will have food, music, fun activities, prizes, and so much more!
