On Monday, December 8th, 2025, Mr. Stainton took his two grade 12 law classes to the Superior Court of Justice in Toronto for a field trip. The trip was organized by Mr. Stainton, who did a fantastic job, making the day an experience to remember for his students.
“Mr. Stainton’s grade 12 law trip to the superior court was one of the coolest field trips I’ve ever been on! We got to sit in courtrooms and watch real cases be tried - I love watching true crime, so it felt so weird seeing the cases, and learning about them after, especially since the suspects just look like normal people, but they’ve actually done terrible things,” student Robyn Wong commented when asked about her experience on the trip.

At the courthouse, the students had the unique opportunity to sit in the courtrooms and listen to an active trial. This allowed students to view evidence, hear each side's argument, listen to a judge's verdict, and even see a witness testify! Each student was given a piece of paper that had the courtroom number and type of case actively going on in the courthouse. The cases included anything from drug offences to murder, proving this field trip to be an undoubtedly special experience.
The field trip allowed students to apply what they were learning in class to real-world scenarios and helped them understand just how a Canadian courtroom operated. Mr. Stainton also allowed his students to purchase their lunch from the Queen Street strip of Toronto, allowing students to eat delicious meals from a variety of restaurants while on the trip.
In conclusion, the trip to the courthouse was an incredible experience, inspiring many students to want to visit again and pursue law as a career. It was truly something to remember that will stick with students for a very long time!
