On Friday, December 5, the Black Student Union (BSU) travelled to downtown Toronto for an exciting field trip to Scotiabank Arena for the first annual Raptors 905 School Day Game.
The trip gave students a chance to get out of the classroom and into the atmosphere of a professional basketball game. The arena itself was packed with 15,000+ students from all across the GTA, and the environment was electric.
The game itself was action-packed. The Raptors 905 faced off against the Capital City Go-Go in a very competitive game. The Raptors managed to scrape their 10th straight win of the season, defeating Capital City with a score of 124-120. The crowd went wild with Raptors 905 stars AJ Lawson and Alijah Martin dominating, scoring 30 points each.
"The atmosphere was crazy," said one Grade 10 BSU member. "It was so loud you couldn't even hear yourself talk." The students enjoyed the food and vibes of downtown Toronto and Scotiabank arena.
Beyond basketball, the trip served as a great bonding experience for the BSU. The students got a chance to build community spirit and celebrate the city of Toronto together.
