On the way to Band Camp!
On the morning of Thursday, October 1st, 2025, TAB’s Music Department travelled to Circle Square Ranch in Brantford.
At camp, TAB’s concert bands, Symphonic Winds and Wind Ensemble, had the incredible opportunity to work with guest conductor, Ms. Jager from Dr. Frank J. Hayden Secondary School.
Sharing her fiery passion for music, Ms. Jager worked with TAB musicians to help improve the band’s rhythm techniques and musicality.
“I love Band Camp. I really appreciated the opportunity of working with a great clarinetist and meeting musicians from different bands. Overall, Band Camp is enlightening, especially if it’s your first time going,” remarked grade 11 student, Kyla White.
Fun activities around the Ranch.
Later in the day everyone ate a hearty lunch of tasty chicken and rice, naan, salad, lemonade, and a sweet treat. Many students ate together, talking, bonding, and getting to know each other better.
While ensembles such as Choir and Chamber Choir broke off into different rehearsals and instrument-based group practices, others were able to participate in the various activities around the Ranch, such as rock climbing, archery, as well as the annual scavenger photo hunt.
"Spell “BAND” with your body!"
"Pretend to have a Picnic at the Corral."
"Act out a famous movie scene."

Finally, all musicians gathered at the Ranch’s campfire located atop the hill. Grade 12 students, Nino Nguyen and Evan O'Neil, prompted everyone to sing campfire songs such as Riptide by Vance Joy, Take Me Home, Country Roads by John Denver, and many other classics.
Band Camp is truly a remarkable experience for every musician able to attend. In the wise words of grade 12 student Patrick Muhleisen: “Life changing experience. For all four years, Band Camp truly changed me for the better by granting me memories, fun workshops, and a break from my hectic school life. This experience is one where all musicians can come together as a department.”
