The Blakelock Junior Boys basketball team wrapped up the STA tournament by bringing home the first-place title in the consolation bracket, battling through challenges and finishing strong.
Blakelock started the tournament off with a 56-72 loss against STA, a game that would determine their placement in the championship bracket. Although the team was short on players, the team still managed to stay competitive thanks to big three-pointers from Aadit Nigam and Aleksander Djordjevic, helping keep the momentum of the game up despite the lack of players.

The boys bounced back into game two with a huge 72-19 win over Blessed Trinity. Blakelock controlled the court from start to finish, thanks to Dexter Ang’s strong offensive performance. This game helped Blakelock secure a spot in the consolation final.
In the final game, Blakelock was stuck in a back-and-forth battle against Notre Dame. With 30 seconds left, Dexter Ang banked a tough three-pointer, which tied up the game 62-62. On the next possession, Jack Wang sealed the win with a transition layup, giving Blakelock their deserved 64-62 victory and winning Blakelock the consolation championship bracket.
Despite early setbacks, the Blakelock Jr. Boys showed up and demonstrated the determination they have been working on this whole season. The team proved that, despite missing teammates, they were still able to compete and secure the win.
We can’t wait to see what the Jr. Boys have in store for Blakelock in the new year! Go Tigers!
