On the 27th of November, our Student Council hosted their very first Coffee House here at TAB. Kicking off at 6PM in the cafeteria, the night was filled with fun times with various stand-up performances and a comfortable atmosphere of smooth jazzy music.
With Gautum Patel being the show’s “Master of Ceremonies,” he began the show with his classic, hilarious stand-up comedy, gaining laughs from many audience members with his wacky dad-jokes.
The event also included many stand-up performances including karaoke and Just Dance. Audience members were invited on stage to participate in these fun activities.
Various impressive art pieces on display.
Notably, a group of Grade 11 students under the label of Carter and Co. sang Last Christmas by Wham!. Later in the night, the group performed an additional number, Beauty and the Beat by Justin Bieber featuring Nicki Minaj, accompanied by Grade 9 student Muhammad Ba.
Furthermore, student Council members, Robyn Wong and Tatiana Lassos also sang Better When I’m Dancin’ by Meghan Trainor, then showed off their awesome dance skills with What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction, joined by Diana Efthimiadis and Gautum Patel.
Another memorable performance was a duet between our MC, Gautum Patel, and Mr. Kaufman, singing the popular Christmas song All I Want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey.
Some more inspiring pieces by our TAB community.
Complimentary hot chocolate and coffee was also served near the entrance. Students made their own personalized drinks with packets of sugar and coffee creamer.
In addition to the performances and tasty beverages, many beautiful art pieces from various students were displayed. Student Council collaborated with Almajara.arts, displaying her art and supporting small businesses. Audience members were encouraged to visit the exhibit during the intermission, letting artists express and share their passion with others.
“The people were so nice and were willing to hear me rant, and it was nice talking to people who have more skills in composition and other areas compared to me. The music was great, and the karaoke was fun to watch. It was an enjoyable night,” expressed Victoria Liang, one artist who had her pieces on display.

The opportunity to appreciate the work of others and enjoy a night with fellow peers has aided the TAB community in growing even closer together. Overall, the event was a wonderful experience, and was an opportunity for both artistic expression and school connection.
