Term 1:
This year in Student Enterprise we will be developing a product or service as part of our mini company.
We will have to work together as a group to do everything, from brainstorming ideas to actually selling the product/service at the market place in school.
TERM 1:
In term one, we focused on forming groups and generating ideas with our class teacher Ms. Houlihan.
We first learned about the type of work that this class would entail, such as
Brainstorming creative ideas
Keeping accounts
Doing market research
Working together as a group
During term one, we had zoom call with Garry Lowe, who works with Student Enterprise Ireland to help guide student through the process of developing a mini company. He also told us about the competition that we could possibly compete in if the judges thought our idea was very good.
My group:
Me
Megan Ryan
Jessica Hogan
Catherine Walsh
We are thinking of making a Christmas cracker styled selection box to fit any occasion, such as Valentine's Day if we end up selling our product at the market place in February.
We also did some research about entrepreneurs this term. He is what I learned about Sonia Deasy, the founder of skincare company "Pestle & Mortar":
Term 2:
In term 2 we finalised our design and contents and worked out all the pricing.
In December we purchased all our raw materials and made 100 Christmas crackers
We sold them all and could probably have sold more if we had been more prepared and organised, but still, we were delighted we got the chance to sell in school before we went into lockdown again.
Term 3:
While in lockdown we took part in the student enterprise competition.
We had:
Zoom calls between our group
Zoom calls with Gary Lowe and our teachers/fellow classmates
Create a business report
Create a video telling them about our mini company
Unfortunately we didn't win the competition, however are still grateful to have had the opportunity to take part (also congratulations to Batter & Crumbs from our school who came 3rd in the competition)
Here is the business report we created for the competition:
