Term 3:

We studied Politics & Society in term 3 with Mr. Farrell.

While in lockdown we watched videos about philosophers and answered questions on them before discussing them in the live classes.

We looked at the following philosophers:

• Thomas Hobbes

• John Locke

• Paulo Freire

• Emile Durkheim

• Bowles & Gintis

• Karl Marx

I found this subject very interesting because it made me aware of things I wasn't aware of like how society works and why people behave in certain ways. We had to form our own opinions on what the philosophers said too.

We had to create a PowerPoint on one of these philosophers. I chose Paulo Freire, who wrote about the education system and the flaws of the traditional method of teaching, where the teacher just fills the students head with information ("banking method") compared to the Freirean problem posing method where people are allowed learn for the love of learning.

When we cam bakc to school we looked at different types of government such as democracy, monarchies etc.
