Term 1:
In term one, we studied "dramaíocht" with Ms. Drew.
This class was always really fun and enjoyable, and I looked forward to it every day we had it.
We read a drama called "An Toraíocht" which included characters from Irish mythology (like the stories of Tír na nÓg).
It told the story of Diarmuid and Gráinne, who were being hunted down by Fionn Mac Cumhaill. Fionn wanted revenge on Diarmuid for stealing his wife, even though Diarmuid had been put under a spell by Gráinne who wanted to get out of her arranged marriage to Fionn.
After studying this drama we looked at the characters, themes and emotions throughout it.
We then had to create a PowerPoint about the characters and the different relationships between them.
Term 2:
In term 2, we focused on speaking in Irish with Mr. Stack
We looked at the different elements of the oral exam and practiced speaking Irish every class.
Here is a presentation my group made about Spórt, which is a topic the examiner might as you about.
Term 3:
While in lockdown, again we focused on speaking Irish with Ms. Wharton
In our live classes she used a PowerPoint to allow us to take down notes etc. and we spoke Irish a lot using the microphone.
We had to make 2 recordings:
Mé Féin & Mo Theaghlach
Mo Cheantar, Spórt & Ceoil
When we came back to school we watched the Des Bishop series "In the Name of the Fada" with Ms. Ryan, where he takes us with him as he goes to the Gaeltacht to learn Irish for a year. I really enjoyed this. It was funny and I feel more interested in learning Irish now after watching the series.
We also had to put the lyrics of "Ámhrán na bhFiann" to a pop song, which was ..... an experience!
