Term 1:
This year in STEM we will be making our own windmill, using the information we learn in class to decide on the best design and number of components, such as the number of magnets or the number of copper coils.
TERM 1:
In this term we looked at each part of STEM:
Science
Technology
Engineering
Maths
There are 3 teachers involved in this subject. Every two weeks we switch teachers so we learn about each area in detail:
We learned about the physics behind making the windmill with Mr. McCarthy.
We were shown how we would actually make the windmill in engineering with Mr. Lambe.
We also learned about green schools with Ms. Coughlin.
Here is an example of some of the observations I made while doing a physics experiment while in Mr. McCarthy's class:
Term 2:
In term 2, we continued with the above 3 classes, making progress each week
We started making our windmill inn groups with Mr. Lambe
Term 3:
Since we were in lockdown, we didn't have enough time when we came back to school to finish our windmills, however we did some other things, for example we picked up rubbish outside our school for green schools.
