FEBRUARY



AFFINITY CREDIT UNION SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY - $1,000 to $2,500

Affinity Credit Union has two scholarship opportunities that students may be interested in. The Elwood Harvey Co-operative Leadership Program is for Grade 11 students who want to learn about money, leadership, cooperatives, and more. Each student will receive a $2,500 award to help fund their post-secondary education. The Build a Better World Scholarship is for Grade 12 students. In particular, it is for students entering their first year of post-secondary education in the fall. There are 30 scholarships of $1,000 to be awarded. Horatio Alger Canadian Scholarship - $3,000 to $10,000

The Horatio Alger Association of Canada provides $1.2 million annually in need-based scholarship support for deserving students in all Canadian provinces and territories.  Scholarships of up to $10,000 are awarded to full-time students in their final year of high school with financial need (family income under $65,000) who have demonstrated integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity, a commitment to pursue a post-secondary education, a desire to contribute to society, and a good academic record.  For more information and to apply, go to https://horatioalger.ca/en/scholarships/about-our-scholarships-programs/provincial-programs/ 


Leadership Scholarship for Immigrant Youth - $500.  The Saskatoon Police Services, in partnership with the Saskatoon Open Door Society, Saskatchewan Intercultural Association and Global Gathering Place are offering three $500 scholarships for Immigrant Youth.

To be eligible to apply, a candidate must be:

· An immigrant who has been in Canada six years or less.

· Between the ages of 17 and 30 years old at the application deadline.

Criteria:

1. Must be a grade 12 student and has been accepted for a post-secondary program at a publicly funded post-secondary institution in Saskatchewan or is in the first or second years of their program in a publicly funded post-secondary institution in Saskatchewan.

2. Must have demonstrated leadership and community volunteer work in the past four years.

3. Financial need will also be a factor in determining the successful applicants.

1. Submit a 500-word autobiographical essay to describe his or her background in the following areas:

· Leadership experience through volunteer work with community and/or school activities

· Personal Story – include both positive and negative transition experiences

· Goals and commitments

2. Complete the application form.

3. Provide the names of two references who can speak to the applicant’s leadership experience.

RBC Indigenous Student Awards Program - $5,000 


This program was launched in 1992 to assist Indigenous students to complete post-secondary education, and provide an opportunity for RBC® to strengthen its relationship with the Indigenous community.  We also consider scholarship recipients who are interested in careers in financial services for summer and post-graduate employment.  For more information and to apply, go to RBC Royal Bank | AboriginalStudents.ca


Nutrien Indigenous Youth Financial Management Awards - $5,000 

Open to Indigenous youth in grades 11 and 12. Winners attend AFOA's National Conference and participate in a special Youth program designed to introduce youth to careers in Indigenous finance and management.  For more information and to apply, go to  https://afoa.ca/awards/youth/ 


Stacey Levitt Memorial Award - $2,500

The Stacey Levitt Memorial Award was created in memory and celebration of Stacey’s life by her family through Parachute. Teen Aid Saskatchewan:


Is offering a scholarship to Grade 12 students across Saskatchewan.  This year, we have increased our scholarship amounts as follows: 

1st Place: $1,000

2nd Place: $500

3rd Place: $300

The scholarship involves writing a speech about chastity.  The deadline for submitting a written copy of the speech is March 1, 2020.  Semi-finalists will then deliver their speeches at a provincial competition held in the spring of 2020.

Canadian Association of Principals - Student Leadership Award - $250

Evan Thomas Scholarship - $2,000 to $4,000

Candidates shall be a graduating Grade 12 student from any high school within the Saskatoon Public School system or the Greater Saskatoon Catholic School system who intend to pursue post-secondary studies. Herbert H. Carnegie Future Aces Foundation - $1,000

The Herbert H. Carnegie Future Aces Foundation’s National Citizenship Award and Scholarship Program provides merit-based scholarships to secondary students across Canada who exhibit exemplary citizenship qualities in their communities through extensive community service, volunteerism and humanitarian causes. Queen's Diamond Jubilee Scholarship - $1,000

This scholarship assists Grade 12 students with completing their post-secondary education, to ease the financial burden that some students face during their educational journey. The RE/MAX Quest for Excellence Scholarship Program - $1,000

This is a great opportunity for grade 12 students to earn a cash scholarship in recognition for their ongoing community contributions and pursuit of leadership. RE/MAX Canada will award 40 scholarships of $1,000 each to students across Canada (except for Quebec). Participants must be a Grade 12 student attending high school in the 2023/2024 academic year, who have not previously participated in graduation commencement ceremonies in the past.  Eligible students are invited to write and submit an online essay* up to 1,250 words in length, answering one of the following questions:

Saskatchewan Agriculture Student Scholarship Program - $2,000 to $4,000 

For students who want to tell the exciting story of agriculture, the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture offers the Agriculture Student Scholarship. We are looking for young people who plan to pursue a career in the industry. Conexus Youth LeadershipAward  - $1,500


Recognizes graduating high school students across Saskatchewan who show leadership in everything they do. They try to make their corner of the world a better place and make a difference in their communities. Conexus will award ten grade 12 students across Saskatchewan with $1,500 and recognize them through our social media channels. Harness Horse Youth Foundation, Inc. Scholarships - $1,000 to $2,500

Schmeiser Centre Peace Studies Essay Prize - $1,000


St. Thomas More College at the University of Saskatchewan is pleased to announce a newly developed certificate in Peace Studies.  St. Thomas More College’s Irene and Doug Schmeiser Centre for Faith, Reason, Peace, and Justice seeks to support student participation in the new program by offering two $1,000 scholarships for students enrolling in CPSJ 112 (Introduction to Peace Studies, formally INTS 112) or CPSJ 310 (Peace Theory and Praxis). One scholarship will go to an incoming student intending to enrol at USask in Fall 2022, and one scholarship will go to a current USask student who has either taken INTS 112 or intends to take CPST 112 or CPSJ 310 in the 2022-2023 academic year.

To apply, please compose an essay of 800 to 1,200 words that addresses the question: What difference can peace studies education make in our contemporary local, national, and/or global society? Given the interdisciplinary nature of peace studies, applicants may choose to draw on personal experience, history, literature, global politics, current events, and/or other sources in their essays. Two prizes will be awarded annually, with preference that one goes to a current USask student and one to an incoming student.

Eligibility

Any person intending to begin their studies at the University of Saskatchewan in fall 2022 and any current USask undergraduate student in any program who has either taken INTS 112 or is planning to take CPSJ 112 or CPSJ 310 of the courses next year. Funds will be released pending enrolment in CPSJ 112 or CPSJ 310. In the event a winner chooses not to take one of these two courses in the 2022-2023 academic year or has not done so already, the scholarship will be awarded to a runner-up.

The CST Foundation Bursary awards (25 bursaries each worth $6,000 each) are available to students who demonstrate financial need. Students must be the first-generation in their family to attend post-secondary education (students whose parents did not attend either college or university).  Applications are open until May 6, 2022.
