Each year, 40 students graduating from high schools and CEGEPs are selected from across Canada to participate in the page program. Pages are first-year undergraduate students registered at one of the four universities in the national capital region (Carleton University, University of Ottawa, Saint Paul University, or Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO)). They work on a part-time basis for one year. In the chamber and around Parliament Hill, pages support parliamentary democracy by providing a range of services to members of Parliament. This incredible work experience broadens their knowledge of the rich traditions of the Canadian parliamentary system. Unifor Local 911 Bursary- $400
Unifor Local 911 will award nine bursaries valued at $400 each twice a year. Unifor Local 911 has made this bursary available to members in good standing, their spouses, and their children and dependents in order to assist with the expenses of being a full-time student at a recognized university or technical institute. Bursaries are awarded to applicants based on number of previous awards given to the applicant (lower number is better) and based on the number of days of seniority the Unifor. Local 911 sponsoring member has (higher number is better). Bursaries are awarded twice a year. Canadian Women in Municipal Government Scholarship - $1,000
FCM's (Federation of Canadian Municipalities) scholarship program for secondary school students began in 2010. The scholarship is open to female Canadian citizens currently enrolled in any year of study in secondary school and who are contributing to their school's leadership team or student council. Kin Canada Bursaries - $1,000
Kin Canada Bursaries is a program of the Hal Rogers Endowment Fund. Bursaries are awarded to Canadian students from coast-to-coast who are pursuing post-secondary education. Each year, applications are due February 1 to the club closest to the student applying. Clubs submit one application to the Board of Trustees and those selected are notified by June 30. Schulich Leader Scholarships - $80,000 to $100,000
The largest and most prestigious undergraduate Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) scholarships in Canada. Union Plus Scholarship - $500 to $4,000
The scholarship is open to current and retired members of unions participating in any Union Plus program, their spouses and their dependent children. At least one year of continuous union membership by the applicant, applicant's spouse or parent (if applicant is a dependent). The student must be attending or planning to attend a college or university, a community college, or a technical college or trade school in the USA. Applicants are evaluated according to academic ability, social awareness, financial need and appreciation of labour.
