The purpose of this Handbook is for students and parents to read and become familiar with units offered at Year 10 and to then map out and choose a suitable program. The program choices can be made online. The final program for any student will then be confirmed by the school.
It is important to understand the structure of Year 10. Compulsory Core Units are undertaken along with additional elective units.
Note that a unit of study is one semester in length.
CORE UNITS:
English: Two units: common for all students
Maths: Two units selected from one of: Foundation Maths, General Maths, Advanced Maths, or Accelerated Maths Methods
Health & Physical Education: Two units: Common for all students
Humanities: One unit of compulsory History.
Science: At least one unit: selected from the Science units offered
Art: At least one unit: selected from the Arts units offered
Technology: At least one unit: selected from the Technology units offered
Students are able to add to their core studies in all curriculum areas by selecting from a range of one-semester length specialist units. This provides students with the opportunity to expand upon their particular interests and ambitions.

Technology: VCE Applied Computing, Food Technology, Product Design Technology, Systems Engineering
VET : Sports Coaching and Recreation, Hospitality, Music Industry, Horticulture
Provisional Enrolment
Student course selection and enrolment is provisional upon the timetabling of subjects. Timetable decisions are based largely upon whole cohort subject choices.
Provisional enrolment into VCE/VET subjects
2026 Year 10 Students who have submitted applications for a VCE or VET advanced placement in Year 10 will be notified of the outcome of their application during Week 3 of Term 3.
Applications for accelerated VCE placements closed late in Term 2. There is still the opportunity to apply for a VET placement in 2025, though you will need to act fast in submitting your application.
All applications for acceleration will be assessed by a the Acceleration Review Panel
The panel will take into consideration
Consistently high level of commitment and persistence across all subject areas.
Demonstrated ability to perform to a high standard and cope confidently with the demands of study at their current level.
Demonstrated ability to reflect on, and evaluate, a student's own learning and a willingness to seek teacher assistance when appropriate.
At least 90% attendance in all subjects of the current year.
Understand that the quality and quantity of work will be set at Year 11 level. Check to see if you meet the following criteria;
• results across all areas of a Very High standard.
• demonstrated strengths in the subject area of the proposed VCE unit of study
• motivation and strong organisational skills.
Students who do not perform adequately in Year 10 subjects in semester one and semester two of 2025 may not be recommended for these subjects in VCE 2026.
