In Year 10 Theatre Studies, you will step into the world of performance, design, and theatrical storytelling. This course explores the conventions and stylistic elements of pre-modern theatre, examining how historical performance styles have shaped the way stories are told on stage.
You will:
Research and experiment with selected pre-modern theatre styles such as Ancient Greek and Elizabethan theatre
Apply this knowledge in a student-led production project, where you'll take on two production roles of your choice (such as acting, costume, set design, lighting, sound, props, or make-up).
Collaboratively plan, develop and present a short performance for a live audience, demonstrating your understanding of theatre style, composition, and production roles.
In addition, you’ll attend a live professional theatre production, where you’ll sharpen your skills in analysis and evaluation. In this area of study, you will learn how to analyse how the contexts of a script are interpreted on stage.
By the end of this subject, you will have gained insight into how theatre has evolved over time, developed your creative and collaborative skills, and built confidence as both a theatre maker and critical thinker.
