The Year 10 curriculum for History provides a focus on the Modern World and Australia. Students complete two in-depth studies. The first unit is on World War 2 (1939 – 1945), which provides a detailed look at the causes and effects of the 20th Century’s largest conflict with a focus on ideology and the impact on Australia. The second unit on Rights and Freedoms (1945 – present) goes in-depth into the modern struggle for civil rights and reconciliation by Indigenous Australians.

• Analyse significant events, the actions of individuals and groups, and beliefs and values to identify and evaluate the patterns of change and continuity over time. 

• Sequence events and developments within a chronological framework, and identify relationships between events across different places and periods of time.

• Evaluate the different interpretations of the past and recognise the evidence used to support these interpretations.

All students will complete one semester of History as it is a core subject.

This course will also prepare students for the full range of VCE subjects through the development of general understanding of world issues, research skills and writing skills.
