Sarah Stevenson

Ten Haiku

Bleak days rolling by,

silence outside deafening -

but the fire crackles with me

The darkness follows.

It’s threatening dance only

helped by the calm breeze

Petals in the wind,

laughing adults on the floor,

the little ones too

The sun rises with

the children in the small town,

parents not yet home

Soft touches,

loud purrs,

the cat is on the bed

Tunes in the dark,

silly voices in my head,

where am I?

Love is not easy on one but is simple for two

Sentence yourself to conformity if you want a meaningless life

bells ringing in tune,

faithful rhymes,

peace reigns amongst us

wind is violent

in the dark

but why is it here?
