Academy Required Course Work

In order to gain recognition for the Global Academy, the following courses must be completed:

• Global Citizenship (Grades 9-10 recommended, 1 semester)

• Global Seminar (Grades 10-11 recommended, 1 semester)

• Global Scholar Capstone (Grades 11-12 recommended, 1 semester)

Other required course work

ONE of the Grade 9 World Social Studies Requirement courses must be completed:

• Global Studies

• AP World History

• AP Human Geography

Foreign language:

A minimum of 3 years of foreign language must be completed

Service Learning

Service Learning requirement may be completed individually with a sustained project (may be completed as a part of Global Scholar Capstone course) OR by completing the Service in Action course (11-12, 1 semester)

Specializations

Complete at least 3 courses within your designated specialization. At least 1 course chosen must be designated as a Globally Focused Course. You are not limited to one Specialization if you have more than one interest. But, you will only earn those Specializations by completing all required of the courses in that particular focus. Specializations will be noted on transcripts. Completion of the Global Academy may be done without a specialization.
