SYRIAN REFUGEES' MENTAL HEALTH IN TURKEY

Alyssa Moran completed her Global Capstone Scholar project in the spring of 2022 during her senior year. Her interest came from wanting to know more about mental health disorders. She was also interested to learn more about refugee crises from learning about them during her courses she took throughout her high school career. She decided to put the two topics together and base her research project off of that. Through her research, she found that more than half of the population of Syrian refugees coming into camps in Turkey were diagnosed with a mental disorder. This came from them escaping war, fleeing their countries from conflicts and many more things that lead to PTSD and anxiety problems. With working with professors who majored in refugee studies or health, Alyssa created a flyer than can be sent out to NGO's, refugee camps and be published anywhere for anyone to donate towards to help better the cause of allowing refugees to get the help they need.
