Dancing in Iran: Addressing womens' right to express themselves

Delaney Cairns completed her Global Capstone Scholar project in the fall of 2021 during her senior year. Her interest in this topic was sparked by the history of Irish dance and how she has learned to express herself through dance. She was able to put herself in the shoes of the women in Iran who are not allowed to dance, not knowing what she would do if she could not dance. Through her research, she was able to determine the actions already being taken to combat this issue through social media and protests on the streets. Delaney worked toward her goal by planning an event to write letters to dancers struggling in Iran and governmental officials who can make a difference in the welfare of these women.
