What is the Global Academy?
The Global Academy provides opportunities to help students a greater understanding into the increasingly global world while looking at various fields tied to global issues and cultures.
By completing the Global Academy students will be able to be recognized as an Illinois Global Scholar through the coursework and extracurricular activities. Integrating Globally-Focused Coursework, Global Collaboration, & Service Learning, our students leave Huntley High School with a background in global concerns, and with the skills and knowledge that will be crucial to succeeding in a rapidly changing, globalized world.
Joining the Global Academy means more opportunities for students including preferential Global Academy course placement, field trip, guest speakers, and field experience opportunities. Students may apply their sophomore year with previous or concurrent enrollment in Global Citizenship.
Once admitted, students will work toward completing coursework within their chosen Specialization (International Relations & Human Rights, Environmental Issues & Sustainability, Government & Law, Journalism & Media, or World Cultures) while also working on Global Collaboration and Service Learning projects in order to achieve the Certificate of Completion or a Transcript Designation for the Illinois Global Scholar Certificate.
