Addressing Food Insecurity for
Families in Scotland
Mia Simons completed her Global Capstone Scholar project in the spring of 2022 during her senior year. Her interest was inspired by the "A Place at the Table" documentary that she watched in her freshman year class, Global Citizenship. The film helped develop her interest in food insecurity is not only in less developed countries but also in more developed countries. Through her research, she discovered the multiple causes of food insecurity but also saw many short-term solutions to help those suffering from food insecurity. With the help of individuals from Scotland, Mia created a website filled with helpful organizations that can connect those with the help they need.
For the artifact, Mia created a website with a list of organizations and resources for people within Glasgow looking for resources for food access. Mia has also provided access to an interactive Free Food Map with Coronavirus Updates with current resources available and sorted by region and day of the week the services are available to increase access for individuals to the resources listed.
