All teachers on continuing and term specific contracts in an active teaching role.
Teachers on leave and support staff are not eligible.
The replacement project is scheduled to begin immediately following Spring Break and wrapping up in June. We anticipate being at each school for one to two days. Teachers will be notified well in advance as to the dates.
The laptops teachers currently have will be repurposed as TTOC computers in elementary and secondary schools. There may also be data (student information) on the laptops that needs to be secured. As a result laptops will not be available for purchase.
The laptops that teachers currently have will be repurposed as TTOC computers in elementary and secondary schools. Increasing the number of devices is also not sustainable for our IT department who support devices. As a result all laptops must be returned.
We realize that teachers may be comfortable withtheir laptops, especially when they are still functioning well, but they must be exchanged for a number of reasons:
To maintain a consistent and sustainable fleet of computers.
Although the new laptops may seem similar, they are a more current model which better supports newer Operating Systems and software.
The new laptops warranty is current, and allows for better support should the laptop require repairs.
Funds have been allocated as a part of this years budget. We can not ensure that funds will be available to replace laptops out side the refresh cycle.
We realize that there may be some personal use of laptops, but we encourage teachers not to store their personal photos, videos and documents on their district devices.
Teachers are expected to backup their own data to OneDrive. This is good practice as it provides secure storage, and uninterupted access to most files in the event of a hardware malfunction. Please see the "How To" for instruction on backing up data.
Music that was purchased through an account will be accessible on the new device. Music that was copied over from any external device will need to be backed up
Bookmarks: Chrome or FireFox bookmarks must be exported, as well as any contacts and calendars if iCloud is not being used to sync (see below).
Bookmarks - if you use FireFox or Chrome (and are not signed in) you must export your bookmarks as they cannot be migrated automatically. See this doc for help https://goo.gl/poH1K8.
Calendar and Contacts - If you do not use iCloud to sync these you must export them
Reminders and Notes - If you do not use iCloud to sync these you must export them
Please transfer any personal data (photos, videos, documents) to your own personal computer, and remove this data from the district computer. Teachers are encouraged to backup work related data to OneDrive. Please see "Will the data be transferred to my new laptop" above.
Yes. Teachers to whom the laptop will be assigned must be present at the time of the exchange, as they are required to enter login credentials during the set-up. The set up process can take about 30 minutes, during which time teachers must be present.
Please monitor your school's TEAMS channel and Outlook email. Your school's administration and tecnology contact will also have information that they will share.
