How do I save and restore my Encryption Key so I can still see my history if I reset the app or get a new phone?
You can save your Encryption Key to your phone's photo gallery or connected cloud storage.
Launch the Safer Community app
Open the Settings
Tap on COVID-19 Private Key to see your Encryption Key
On the COVID-19 Private Key screen, tap Save
On iOS, this saves the Encryption Key image to the Camera Roll. On Android, this saves the Encryption Key image to Pictures.
If you get a new phone, you can use the app on the original phone to restore the Encryption Key to the app on the new phone.
On your original phone, tap on the COVID-19 Private Key button in the Settings menu.
Your Encryption Key is displayed.
On your new phone, use the Scan button during setup or in the Settings menu to open the camera and scan the image.Depending on the lighting and other factors, you may need to try several times.
If you delete and reinstall the app, you can use the Encryption Key image you backed up on your phone's photo gallery or cloud storage to restore it.
Display the Encryption Key image you saved on a device other than the one on which you are reinstalling the app.
Launch the newly-installed app and use the Scan button during setup or in the Settings menu to scan the save Encryption Key image.
