At CPDLF, our commitment to our learners and the unique, flexible learning environments they rely on is our highest priority. As we approach the critical June 30th deadline for the 2026-2027 State Budget, our learners are facing significant new threats that could undermine the quality of education we provide.

CPDLF is calling on the Pennsylvania General Assembly and Governor Shapiro to prioritize the needs of our school community and ensure that ALL public school learners are treated fairly - - both in how they are funded and the mandates dictating how their education is delivered. We urge you to contact your State Representative and State Senator TODAY to make your voice heard and urge them to:

1. Protect Funding for Public Cyber Charter Schools and Learners: Ask your local lawmakers to OPPOSE House Bill 2634. This bill will increase the funding cut imposed on public cyber charter schools for the 2025-26 school year (totaling $238 million in lost funding) by an additional (estimated) $75-$100 million for the 2026-27 school year. If this bill becomes law, public cyber charter schools will begin the 2026-27 school year under a funding cut totaling somewhere between $313-$338 million. 

2. Ensure Equitable Accountability: Ask your lawmaker to OPPOSE any new mandates that are targeted at public cyber charter schools but not equally applied to school districts and intermediate units that operate their own virtual programs.

3. Correct the Unintended Consequences of Act 47 of 2025: Ask lawmakers to support legislative proposals intended to fix the burdensome residency verification mandates placed on public cyber charter school families (introduced by Rep. D’Orsie and Sen. Coleman) and restore access to public cyber charter schools for habitually truant learners (introduced by Rep. Gleim and Sen. Keefer).

We have received our preliminary PSSA results. The charts below show performance in English Language Arts and Math performance by grade level. The colors indicate the percentage of students at that grade level performing at certain proficiency levels - Advanced, Proficient, Basic, and Below Basic.   We are growing and trending in the right direction!  Thank you to our teachers and our learners for working hard this year to overcome challenges and barriers to close the gap between what has been learned and what still needs to be learned.

We had our Title I Stakeholder Meeting and we wanted to share the results with you. For context, this meeting is a report on our Federal Funding and decisions are made on how those funds will be used to support learners. 

Here’s what you need to know:

• We voted to transfer Title II funds to Title I.

• We reviewed End of Year SIP data.

• We discussed the goals for the 26-27 school year.

  • Increasing ELA and Math grade level proficiency

    • Increasing course rigor while strategically structuring individual supports for maximum growth.

  • Supporting teachers in the move to the AMP system and in providing individualized intensive support to learners.

    • Intensive training

    • Support for implementation

  • Developing learners’ self-confidence and executive functioning skills to positively impact their academic growth

    • Personalized learning paths

    • Weekly check-ins starting this upcoming school year (learn more about that in the previous edition of the CEO Updates for Parents)

We also presented how the Federal Funds are allocated and the projected spending for each area.

Goal setting is another skill that extends far beyond the classroom. Whether pursuing higher education, entering the workforce, serving in the military, or exploring a new career, graduates who can set meaningful goals and work steadily toward them are better prepared to achieve long-term success.

Technology is also an essential part of modern life. At CPDLF, learners don't just use technology—they learn how to use it responsibly, effectively, and purposefully. From researching reliable information to collaborating online and using digital tools to solve problems, these experiences prepare learners for the expectations they'll encounter in college, careers, and everyday life.

Perhaps most importantly, we want our graduates to think critically. In a world filled with information, strong critical thinkers know how to evaluate evidence, consider different perspectives, ask thoughtful questions, and make informed decisions. These skills help them become confident learners today and capable leaders tomorrow.
