Dear Parents and Guardians,
School starts next week! We are so excited to welcome learners and get to know new faces. We’re keeping this communication brief to provide just the essentials to get you started.
This week, we're talking about:
Growth Mindset
The First Day of School
Important Programs You Can Use
Using RoundUp at Walmart
Upcoming Events - Mark Your Calendar
The School Calendar
Last week, we talked about Principal Yahner’s character trait for the end of August and month of September: growth mindset. But how does that fit into our school’s overall direction? In addition to the practical aspects (i.e., we’re all a work in progress and lifelong learners), “growth” is a core value for CPDLF! It’s in everything we do.
In many traditional learning environments, growth is measured by a single standard—one pace, one path, one definition of success. At CPDLF, we know that real growth doesn’t look the same for every learner.
It’s personal.
It’s dynamic.
It should meet learners where they are—then help them move forward with confidence.
Growth is one of our core values because it reflects our belief that every learner is capable of progress when given the right support, flexibility, and encouragement. Whether a learner is catching up, accelerating, or exploring new interests, we create space for that journey to unfold in a way that makes sense for them.
Through personalized learning, strong relationships with our Academic Team, and the support of Learner Coaches at home, growth becomes more than an academic outcome—it becomes a mindset. Learners begin to see challenges as opportunities, effort as a pathway, and progress as something worth celebrating.
At CPDLF, growth is never about checking boxes or going through the motions. Growth is about building confidence, developing resilience, and preparing learners for whatever path they choose next. When learners understand how to grow, they carry that ability with them for life.
That’s the power of growth—and it’s why it’s at the core of who we are.
Our first day of school is Monday, August 24th. You must join us for classes and our school assembly.
If you're unsure of where your learner needs to be, reach out to your assigned learning guide. If your learning guide has not contacted you or you're uncertain who your learning guide is, please reach out to our main phone line at (814) 682-5258.
We have a school assembly on Monday at 12:30. Join this in My AMP Meeting.
Important information:
Don’t forget that you can help your school by participating in:
Box Tops for Education - scan your receipt after shopping!
Round Up Program - perfect for online orders, credit card transactions, and stores like Walmart!
Our School Spirit Store - represent CPDLF in comfy, cozy CPDLF gear!
Zeffy Donations - help us replenish our PBIS store for your learner!
We're excited to share a new way you can support CPDLF — without changing how you spend. It's called RoundUp.org.
Here's how it works: every time you make a purchase, your total is rounded up to the nearest dollar, and the spare change goes to support CPDLF. Grab a coffee, groceries, gas — it all adds up to meaningful, ongoing support. Get started here.
Even better, for a limited time: each person who signs up and rounds up for at least 3 months unlocks an additional $25 donation for CPDLF that RoundUp will donate. It takes about 30 seconds to set up, and then it runs quietly in the background. Small change. Real impact. Thank you for being part of this community! All proceeds will support our PBIS rewards.

*SLC Parents: Please consider joining CEO Malynda Maurer at our booth for these events. We're hosting craft activities for children and telling potential new families what makes CPDLF special. Nothing beats hearing our story right from a current family experiencing our school! Send an email to ceo@cpdlf.org to let us know if you can make it.
ALC Parents: We're working on finding events in your area, too. If you know of a good family-friend event, please email us at pr@cpdlf.org.
The start of the school year can be overwhelming - especially if this is your first child or your first time at a cyber school. Make sure you have all the important dates marked on your calendar.
Bookmark this link: Official School Calendar. This is where you'll find the start date, every Checkpoint and School Board meeting, holidays, family engagement events, state testing, and the last day of school.
We'll see you Monday!
