January 15-19th

Hello Everyone!

We got week 1 under our belts for the beginning of January 2024! We finished our review of unit 1 in Fundations and I completed the unit test with the children. I will be in touch this week with some who need some extra support with unit 1. We noticed today (Friday) that I made a mistake with the helper calendar. We had been following the calendar from the 1st of January!!!! I made a new copy with the correct order. The quote of the bottom of the calandar was very fitting " Mistakes are proof that you are trying." I really was trying hard to be organized getting back into the swing of things after the holidays haha!

For the next couple of weeks we are going to be having fun learning about winter, snowflakes, snowmen and reading about some winter sports. We will encorporate this theme through our whole day, literacy, numeracy and playtime.

Literacy:

In Fundations, we will begin unit 2. We will move at a faster pace learning the formations of the uppercase letters. In this unit we will also begin to read and write CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words. I will send home the unit 2 parent note on Monday.  Please continue to work on printing the lowercase letters using the verbal prompts. It is important to begin letters in the proper place. Sometimes when starting from the bottom students will write letters backwards.

Our sight word for this week will be here.

Numeracy: I am sending home the Unit 4 (Numbers 6-10) Parent letter on Monday. Please read over to find some things you could work on at home. This week we talk about all the ways we can make the number 6. This week we will play some games to solidify our knowledge of the number 6.

I hope you all have a great weekend!
