Feb 12th-16th

Hi everyone,

It certainly was a beautiful weekend. I hope you all got some time outside!

Hopefully this week we will be back to a full week!

Valentines:  As I mentioned in the last update. Please just have students sign their names on the valentines cards. It makes it much easier to hand out. There are 17 students in our class. 8 girls and 9 boys.

Fundations:

Last week I sent home some practice sheets for Uppercase letters. We will finish up letters V, W, X, Y and Z this week and spend some time reviewing taping words with the consonant, vowel, consonant pattern.

Reading:

Students will have another homework book coming home tomorrow. Some of the texts are very patterned and predictable once students figure out the first couple of pages. However I have been noticing that voice to text is not always matching. Remind students in these earlier reading to continue pointing to each word as they say it. Even if they have it "memorized". When they come to a word they don't know ask them to look at the first letter and ask "What sound does this letter make?" If they word can be tapped let them try. If it has tricky patterns you can just give them the word.

Math:

We are working on combinations for the number 8. The children did very well printing the number 8 on Friday. Extra practice printing the numbers 1-8 at home would be beneficial. There are still a lot of reversals.

Helpers/Show and Tell

I decided not to do a calendar for February and March. Storm days tend to mess things up and then there are disappointed kids when they miss their day. So for this week it looks like this.

Monday-Parsam (He can bring show and tell Tuesday)

Tuesday- Aida

Wednesday-Rhett

Thursday-Luka

Friday- Nayeli

If there happens to be a storm day we will just move everyone forward one day so that they don't miss out. So for example if it storms on Wednesday Rhett will be the helper/show and tell on Thursday.

Dates to Remember

February 14th Valentines Day - Valentine exchange

February 16th Winter Wellness day. (Hopefully some events outside)

February 19th Family Day (No School)

Have a great week
