April 15th-18th

Hi everyone!

How are we in the middle of April already! The students have been so interested in learning about the solar system. We will continue this week with learning about Uranus, Neptune and Satrun. We skipped over Earth to save that for Earth day coming up next week. We have been doing writing about the planets, singing songs, and a few art projects. This week we will introduce a few literacy and math stations during our playtime with a space theme.

Literacy:

In Fundations we are moving into week 6 of Unit 3. This is the last week in this unit. We will continue to tap and blend words and our trick word this week will be was. Next week will be a testing and review week.

Guided Reading- I've been having difficulty finishing all the groups before Tuesday to send books home on Tuesday night so for the remainder of the year I think it's more realistic to say I'll be sending books home on Wednesday nights. Please have books returned by Friday. 

Math: This week we are sorting 3-D Objects. Our centers will also have some opportunities for counting to 10. 

Easter Seals- On Thursday , we will be giving a fudgsicle to all of our students at lunch (or snack, depending on the homeroom teacher’s preference).  We ask that you consider sending in a monetary donation before Thursday so that we can pool together funds to donate to the Easter Seals Campaign.  The class that raises the most money, will have a pizza party.  The class that raises the second most amount of money will get an extra recess outside, supervised by Ms. Hufnagel and Ms. Dunn.  If you do not want your child to receive a fudgesicle, or if your child has dietary restrictions, please inform your child’s homeroom teacher
