February 20-23rd

Good Morning Everyone,

I hope everyone had a wonderful family weekend. Whether you took in some of Jack Frost, Stratford Festival or just spent time together as a family. It certainly was a nice weekend for it.

Literacy:

With all of the storm days recently the Kindergarten teachers decided that we would take this week to review and test for Unit 2. No new concepts will be taught this week. Something you can work on at home is tapping and blending sounds. You can play a little game where you say the sounds to a word slowly and have your child tell you what words it is. For example: Slowly say the sounds in cat          /c/        /a/       /t/. Then say what word did I make? As always students can continue to practice with printing both upper and lowercase letter.

Reading:

During our guided reading time this week I will be testing the reading levels of students. There will be no books coming home this week.

Math:

This week we will move on to working with the number 9 and the various ways we can make that number.

We will be doing lots of counting forwards and backwards to and from 10.

At home you can practice printing the numbers. Play a game where you call out a number and get them to go find that number of objects and bring them back.
