January 8th-12th

Welcome Back and Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a great holiday. It was nice weather for traveling and being out and about!

I love this time of the year in Kindergarten. We will begin to put together what we know about letters and sounds to begin reading! For the next week we will be reviewing all the letters. By the end of the week we will be testing and then moving on next week to identifying and matching the uppercase letters. Students who are currently recieving Fundations Tier 2 support may change after testing. You will be notified if your child is recommended to recieve extra support. For homework this week take some time to review printing all of the letters in the homework folder. Pick 3-5 letters a night to practice printing.

Numeracy:

This month we will begin diving deeper into numbers 6-10. We will practice printing these numbers, counting groups of objects and looking at all the ways we can make a number. For example: 6 can be 1 and 5 or, 2 and 4 and so on.

Reminder that we will be going out in all kinds of weather down to -20 degrees. Please make sure that children are dressesd for the weather. Please keep an extra pair of clothing in their bag right down to underwear and socks. Also extra mitts/gloves would be helpful as sometimes the first pair gets wet at little recess.

That's all for now. I'll probably send a mid week check in as more information comes in.

Have a great week
