Timetables 

The exam timetable is set nationally and cannot be varied by School. Exams take place in standard morning or afternoon sessions, which at Cheadle Hulme School start at 9am and 1.30pm respectively.

Provisional timetables for the summer exams are released by the exam boards about 6 months in advance. As a result of feedback from schools, such timetables may change, though significant movement is rare. 

An individual student’s timetable will be available through Student and Parent Portals as soon as entries are made, in approximately mid Feb.

An individual pupil's timetable will evolve as any changes are made due to clashes or additional entries. This occurs in the detailed planning period around March and typically means the exams are moved around on the same day (an exam moved to the morning or afternoon, and a supervised lunchtime in between).

Study Leave

Pupils in Year 11 and Sixth Form commence study leave in advance of the main written examination period. During this time, they attend School only for their examinations.

Contingency Day 2024

This day will be used if a significant, unexpected event arises nationally or locally during the exam period such that no students (or a large number of them) are unable able to take an exam when planned. Students should be available throughout the exam period, including this contingency day, in case their planned timetable is disrupted.

If it is necessary to use the Contingency Day any absence will only be allowed if it complies with exam board regulation i.e. holidays will not be considered a valid reason for missing any exam on this day. Should this day be necessary you will be notified on the original date of the cancelled exam.
