Guidance for Pupils (Infant & Junior)
We want to do everything we can to support you in continuing your learning at home. We know that this will present challenges for many of you, but we want to work as closely as we are able so that you can continue to get the most out of your CHS education. We also hope you will develop crucial skills in organisation, time management, independent learning and communication, as well as those skills you will continue to develop across your subjects.
The details below outline how the new remote learning system will work in practice.
All your remote learning will be via Google Classroom (Y4 to Y6) and Seesaw (Reception to Y3).
Lesson Times
You should treat each day as if it were a normal school day:
You will receive a weekly timetable highlighting live lessons and afternoon curriculum coverage
You should attend live lessons and complete the tasks set for you
Be prepared for these lessons with all necessary resources
Join Google Meets with your camera on and microphone on mute until your teacher gives you a different instruction
Be dressed appropriately (no pyjamas) for lessons and have a water bottle to hand
You should not be eating during any live lesson
You should attend live lessons and complete the tasks set for you
Communicate with your teacher if you have any issues as we are happy to help
You should inform your teacher if you are struggling to keep up with the workload within the lesson. Communication with teachers should take place through Google Classroom or Seesaw.
We have asked parents to tell School if you are unwell or unable to participate in remote lessons.
Breaks
We have created timetables with breaks and lunch in mind - try to make use of that time to be away from the screen.
Feedback
Work will be set and assessed with feedback given in a variety of ways - remember to reflect on your work and feedback to help consolidate or extend your learning.
Socialising
We appreciate your life is very different at the moment so engage with lessons and make good use of the time when you are with your friends and teachers. Reflect on your week, talk about experiences and get together as a class. We are in this together and making each other smile is a big part of our wellbeing.
