Holiday absence during term time is strongly discouraged and we would ask for you to plan your family trips in the School holidays. Although children may attempt to catch up on work they miss, there is no real substitute for being present during lessons. Many lessons have a large practical element which cannot be replicated and may be part of a planned sequence of learning experiences. On the rare occasion an absence might be necessary, permission must be sought in writing from the Head of the Junior School prior to the absence.
Please inform us by telephone (0161 488 3334) or email communicationsjs@chschool.co.uk before 9am if your child is unable to attend School due to illness. An explanatory note should be then sent to School when your child returns. Any child who has had any vomiting or diarrhoea should stay at home for 48 hours after the last symptoms have occurred.
It is important for your child and the smooth running of the School to be on time at the start of the day. If there are special circumstances which mean your child arrives after the register has closed at 8.40am they must be signed in at the Junior School Reception. To comply with Health & Safety regulations we also request that parents / carers sign their children out / in when leaving the premises for appointments etc.
