Music
There is a well-established and strong tradition of music making at CHS.
The Music department has a reputation for excellence and boasts an excellent track record of examination success at both GCSE and A Level. Many students regularly going on to study music at university and conservatoires.
A lively and well-resourced department, students can take part in a large number of co-curricular groups as well as frequent concert and performance opportunities which cater for both the casual and career musician.
Currently, more than 300 students receive private music lessons in School from our large team of specialist instrumental and vocal teachers staff.
The principal aim of the department is to develop every student’s enjoyment and appreciation of music and to ensure that the musical potential of every child is fulfilled.
All classroom courses are practically based and emphasize enjoyment and participation.
