Hello, Martin Families!

My name is Megan Massey, and I am honored and excited to be the new School Counselor at Martin Elementary!

I am joining Celina ISD after spending 12 wonderful years at Rattan Elementary in Anna ISD. During my time there, I taught for seven years before transitioning into the role of School Counselor, where I served students and families for the past five years.

Before becoming an educator, I worked as a social worker. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Texas A&M University–Commerce in 2009 and my Master's degree in Social Work in 2010. In 2011, I became a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the state of Texas. My early career included working at the Fannin County Family Crisis Center and Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Texas. Those experiences provided me with a strong foundation in supporting children and families and continue to shape my work as a school counselor today. Although I transitioned into education, I have continued to complete the professional learning required to maintain my social work license.

I grew up in nearby Gunter, so I've had the opportunity to watch Celina grow over the years—or perhaps it's more accurate to say explode! I am thrilled to now be a part of this incredible community.

As the school counselor, I am committed to providing a comprehensive counseling program that supports every student's academic, social, and emotional growth. Throughout the school year, I will visit classrooms each month to teach guidance lessons, facilitate small counseling groups, and meet individually with students as needed.

At Martin Elementary, building strong character is an important part of who we are. Each month, students will focus on a different character trait through classroom lessons and school-wide activities. I encourage you to check back regularly for resources and ideas that will help you reinforce these important character traits at home.

I believe that the best support for students comes from a strong partnership between school and home, and I look forward to getting to know each of you throughout the year.

I am so excited to begin this journey with the Martin family and can't wait for a fantastic 2026–2027 school year!
