Welcome to Martin Elementary! My name is Melissa Irizarry. This will be my 6th year in Celina teaching 1st grade.
My family moved to Celina in 2019 and love it! I am married to my husband, George and we have two wonderful girls. Madison is starting 7th grade and just turned 12 years old. Emily is 9 and is starting in fourth grade. They both love to sing, dance, and Cheer. Go Bobcats!
I am super excited to meet my kiddos and start another fantastic year at Martin!
Meet the Teacher will be on Monday, August 11th.
What to do before Meet The Teacher:
Please bring all of the supplies on our 1st grade list. You will be sorting them with your child at Meet the Teacher. Also, please label the following items with your child's name: scissors, school supply bag, play doh, Crayola Markers, and headphones.
Please be sure to know how your child will be getting home the first three days of school, so I can document it at Meet the Teacher.
This year our class will be using Class DOJO to help us stay in constant communication. You will receive information on how to get connected.
Please be sure to check your e-mail. I will send a weekly e-mail (usually) on Friday's that will include important information and the first grade newsletter. On occasion, I might send emails throughout the week, as some information might be too much for Class Dojo.
Please check your child's folder each day. This will be where behavior notes, daily notes, fluency phrase, and other information will be sent home. This is also where you will send notes to school.
CLASS DAILY SCHEDULE
Our students attend a different specials class each day for 50 Minutes. For P.E. and Bobcat Bounce, Students need to wear sneakers every day to safely participate in P.E. and Bobcat Bounce, or bring them to change into.
Lunch money may be added to your child's lunch account online on the School Cafe site for lunches in the cafeteria and any additional snacks.
Please provide a healthy snack for your child to eat in class during snack time (quick/easy to eat) and a flip top/straw water bottle that can be easily refilled. No screw top bottles please.
Please keep a Ziplock back of extra clothes in your child's backpack in case they have an accident at school or get dirty and need to change. Label the bag with your child's first and last name. Please make sure to swap out the clothes to fit the changing weather.
