Welcome to our Class!

Hello Bobcats! My name is Michelle Shetty and I am so excited to teach your FIRSTIES this year! I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with my BSBA and Carlow University with my Masters of Early Childhood Education. I have taught elementary in NC and PA for 10 years, and this will be my first year in Texas and at Martin! I live in Prosper with my husband, Satish, and our sixteen year old Bichon, Scotty and crested gecko, Cleo. My oldest son, Nikhil, just graduated from Georgia Tech and will be staying in Atlanta for a position in the biomedical engineering field. My youngest son, Ketan, will be a freshman at The Ohio State University in Columbus, studying pharmaceutical sciences.

When I am not teaching I love to spend time with my family, garden, take walks, and travel.

I am so excited to get to know each and everyone of you and build a strong home-school connection. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you ever have any questions or concerns.

Meet the Teacher

Meet the Teacher will be on Monday, August 10th from 5:30pm-7pm

What to do before Meet The Teacher:

Please bring all of the supplies on our 1st grade list. Please label the following items: scissors, school bag, headphones. You will be sorting them with your child at meet the teacher. Also, please be sure to know how your child will be getting home the first day of school and then the rest of the year.

Daily Folders

Please check your child's folder each day. This will be where notes, student work samples and important campus information will come home. This is also where you will send notes to school. Your child needs to bring this folder to school daily!

Change of Clothes

Please keep a Ziplock back of extra clothes in your child's backpack in case they have an accident at school or get dirty and need to change. Label the bag with your child's first and last name. Please make sure to swap out the clothes to fit the changing weather.

Please be sure to check your e-mail. I will send a weekly e-mail that will include important information and the first grade newsletter. On occasion, I might send emails throughout the week, as some information might be too much for Class Dojo.

This year our class will be using Class DOJO to help us stay in constant communication. You will receive information on how to get connected.

CLASS DAILY SCHEDULE

Our students attend a different specials class each day for 50 Minutes. For P.E., Students need to wear sneakers every day to safely participate in P.E. , or bring them to change into.Best Practice: Any day your child does not wear sneakers/tennis shoes -> they should be packed in backpack.

Lunch money may be added to your child's lunch account online on the School Cafe site for lunches in the cafeteria and any additional snacks.

Please provide a healthy snack for your child to eat in class during snack time (quick/easy to eat) and a flip top/straw water bottle that can be easily refilled. No screw top bottles please.
