Welcome! I’m Cheryl Hutson, and I am so excited to begin my 42nd year of teaching! Over the years, I’ve had the joy of teaching Kindergarten for 18 years across Frisco and Farmersville, First Grade for 2 years in McKinney, and this marks my 22nd year teaching First Grade right here in Celina.

A little about me: I grew up in Lyons, New York, and graduated from the University of North Texas. My husband is a high school coach and teacher at Celina High School, and together we have three wonderful daughters, three great sons-in-law, and five amazing grandchildren. When I’m not in the classroom, you’ll usually find me spending quality time with family and friends, cheering at sporting events, or splashing around in the pool with my grandkids!

My biggest goal for our classroom is for every single student to feel successful, valued, and excited to learn. I truly believe that every child can—and will—learn in my class. I love celebrating each student's unique strengths and hope to inspire a lifelong love for learning. First grade is a year of incredible growth, and you will be amazed as you watch your child blossom into a confident reader, writer, mathematician, scientist, thinker, and great friend!

We are going to have a fantastic year full of learning, fun, and new discoveries at Martin Elementary. Thank you so much for trusting me with your child—I promise to care for and support them just as I would my own. I can’t wait for a wonderful year together!
