In Unit 1, the unit content that needed to be taught while students were working on the ARC challenge was small manageable topics that could be completed through a flipped classroom or mini lectures. The instructional content for Unit 2 is more complex and technical. Due to the abstract nature of the content and the complexity level, the instructional strategies are different. The flow of the unit works best if students finish Sprint 1, complete the instructional lessons and then complete Sprint 2. Sprint 2 also incorporates EarSketch so there will need to be a few introductory EarSketch lessons before the students can start on the musical component of the recruitment artifact.
Sections 2.5 - 2.9 have components that can optionally be flipped so that the entire lesson doesn't have to be completed in a class setting. If the teacher chooses to flip these small pieces, the extra class time could be used for deeper discussions, review, vocabulary games, quizzes or coding explorations.
