The right ventricle is one of four chambers (two atria and two ventricles) of the heart. It receives deoxygenated blood from the right atrium through the tricuspid valve, and pumps it to the lungs through the pulmonary valve and pulmonary trunk.
The right ventricle is triangular in form and extends from the right atrium to near the apex of the heart. The walls of the right ventricle are much less thick than those of the left ventricle. The right ventricle walls are thickest at the base and thinner towards the apex.
The upper left corner of the right ventricle, where the deoxygenated blood is pumped into the pulmonary artery, is called the infundibulum or conus arteriosus.
