The erector spinae are a set of postural muscles that striaghten and rotate the back.Â
These muscles work together with the glutes to maintain a stable posture when standing or sitting.
These are the only muscles innervated by the dorsal rami of the spinal nerves, and these are the dorsal rami only innervate these muscles. All other skeletal muscles are innervated by the ventral rami of spinal nerves.
