The thyroid gland is a large endocrine gland located just inferior to the larynx in the neck. Its main substance is found in the left and right lobes of the thyroid gland, which are connected across the midline by the isthmus of the thyroid gland. Sometimes a small pyramidal lobe extends superiorly from the isthmus.
